Get Cracking

June 26, 2012

Get cracking organising the next Charmouth Literary Festival(Saturday 8th September).  Get Cracking practising my saxophone for the next gig (Sunday 1st July, Kilmington village hall).  The book Get Cracking has been revised and reprinted and now has to get back into cirulation.  The next book is being written, Travels With Granny and has been promised for the begining of September.  A decision has to be made to self publish, to go on a course about e publishing, to send bits out to magazines to attract attention.  So many decisions so much to get cracking on.  In the end you just have to sit and write the book, push it out and allow it to have a life of it’s own.  All the worry in the world won’t get it written or printed. Whatever you are doing – or going to do – without making a move you are doing nothing.  A bit like writing this blog; what to write about, postpone it for a better inspiration or just get on with it and get down to the important things in life.  Writing the next book.

Flaming June

June 7, 2012

The wind is getting up and the rain is blowing all over the place.  Trees are bending over backwards and the sea is alive with white foam.  Tomorrow we may go body boarding.  Then again we may not.  The children huddle in their anoraks wondering what to do.  Parents are hell bent on taking them to the museum and I concur that it is very good with lots of ‘hands on’ for the children.  The children frown they want to go fossiling. Outside June roars like a lion and the roads are strewn with natures debris.  I take advantage of being incarcerated and work on my latest book, Travels With Granny.  I savour the warmth of Istanbul, Rome in May and blistering Crete; the outstanding beauty of Slovenia and the places we visited.  We dare to have a water ban as the swollen rivers pour into the sea and tender bedding plants are battered.  Roll on July.
